The goal of the course is to provide the basic algebraic concepts and tools widely used throughout all mathematical courses both in the high school and college curricula.

Textbooks. We will use two textbooks. One of them was announced long ago. This is R.Irving, Integers, Polynomails, and Rings. A Course in Algebra, 1993, Springer.
The second one is a thin elementary book by I.M.Gelfand and A.Shen, Algebra, Birkhauser, 2003.
It was ordered by the campus bookstore.
