MAT 541: Algebraic Topology I

Monday, Wednesday 2:30pm-3:50pm in Physics P122.
In this course, we will attempt to cover simplicial/CW complexes, simplicial homology, singular (co)homology, (co)homology of CW complexes, Eilenberg-Steenrod axioms, the Künneth theorem and Poincaré duality.
We will be following the book
Elements of Algebraic Topology, James R. Munkres.

Tuesday 1-2pm, Wednesday 12-1pm (Math 4-101B).

Grading
You grade will be based on class participation (class/office hours discussion) and also on written homework. You may hand in solutions to at most two homework problems every two weeks (just slide the homework under my office door MAT 4-101b).
